Explore nature’s bounty: Hiking and nature walks at Living Heritage Koslanda
Hike through tea estates and waterfalls
Our location in Sri Lanka’s Hill Country means you’ll be spoilt for choice for some great hikes for anyone wanting to explore the area by foot. Highly recommended is a hike that takes guests through a local tea estate, passing emerald green tea fields and local estate villages with smiling locals, totally untouched by commercialism, with their colourful and photogenic Hindu kovils. Descend, from the tea fields, passing by Diyaluma Falls, Sri Lanka’s third highest falls at 171 meters. Return to the resort for a welcome swim in the pool. Total hike is 10km. Alternatively take a very picturesque hike from the jungle waterfall down to the village below, taking in the verdant paddy fields of the local villages. Nature walk through protected forest trails
Our team will be delighted to accompany you on a guided nature walk through the protected forest trails of our estate along the Nahavila Oya River. Get to know the flora and fauna of Sri Lanka as they point out the pepper vines and wild coffee bushes, jack fruit and kumbuk trees. If you’re lucky you might spot Sri Lanka’s giant squirrel, toque macaques are often to be seen playing and chattering in the treetops, and the forest is awash with butterflies and birds at certain times of the day and year. If you’re very lucky you might even see evidence of the wild elephants which have used the forest for centuries on their annual migratory routes.
